Suppressed Duck Review

Suppressed Duck Review

Suppressed Duck is a 1965 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is another okay entry starring Daffy Duck.

Daffy Duck goes hunting grizzly bear in a forest but is not allowed by the ranger to cross the line separating him from the bears. I did not care for the bear character. His voice and personality were somewhat rushed and he never was fully fleshed out. Daffy himself fared much better, though he was still way too villainous for his own sake.

The animation is still a mixed bag. On the one hand, its colorful and surreal quality was pleasant to the eye, but on the other hand, it mimics the ‘Pink Panther’ series way too much, thus losing its identity in the process. Most of the gags in this short were actually quite solid and some were even funny, but the ranger needn’t have been here. He appeared way too often in what should have been an animal-centric story. This was also the last time that Daffy said his signature line “You disgust me!”

Overall, Suppressed Duck has its fun gags and solid moments, but the bear character was weak and Daffy was again acting out of character.

My Rating – 3.4
