Well Worn Daffy Review

Well Worn Daffy Review

Well Worn Daffy is a 1965 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a pretty odd cartoon.

Speedy and a couple of his mouse friends are in need of a drink in the hot desert and come across a water-filled oasis, which belongs to greedy Daffy Duck. This one offers us another weird Speedy/Daffy pairing, but here Daffy’s so out of character that it was absolutely ridiculous to witness. He would go so far in order to stop the mice from having a droplet of water that it was borderline ludicrous.

The gags are for the most part pretty solid with a couple of them including the hose being a lot of fun. The animation is also better than expected for this period and the desert setting was well realized in the short’s entirety. This cartoon would work quite well in vacuum, but we all know Daffy and this just ain’t him. Not only was he too evil here, but he was also competent throughout, which was even more difficult to buy. Speedy being less competent was also not in character. The camel was also odd and unnecessary.

Well Worn Daffy is a good cartoon in vacuum as it has its solid gags, but the characters behave in such odd ways, making them dysfunctional and odd.

My Rating – 3.4
