Sherlock Pink Review

Sherlock Pink Review

Sherlock Pink is a 1976 animated short film from the Pink Panther series.

The Pink Panther becomes a detective to identify who stole his breakfast cake (which he actually ate in his sleep), but instead finds a crook (the Little Man) and chases him through a surreal house. The Little Man’s look here is odd and different as he plays this crook and he felt miscast in my opinion. He’s fun, but not your standard Little Man character.

Pink is pretty good himself and the premise is great, but they only fully utilized it in the first half where the house was gorgeously rendered and used for some great action scenes and set pieces, in particular that staircase scene was wild, very inventive and quite imaginative. I wanted more of that surreal element later down the line as the third act is where the movie settled into regular, forgettable late Pink Panther territory.

Sherlock Pink is weaker in its second half, but the first one is strong, imaginative and very well designed.

My Rating – 3.8
