Scrambled Aches Review

Scrambled Aches is a 1957 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a pretty fun outing.

This is yet another Road Runner short where the second half is significantly better than the first one. At first, most of the coyote’s schemes are overly simplified, thus nothing stands out in terms of humor and momentum. But eventually, they become more complicated, leading to a fantastic finale.

The anvil part is pretty good as is the one with the hydrated boulder, but the real highlight has to be that steam roller that he makes in the final act. I loved every second of this section because it was so brilliantly constructed and very meticulous. How it all concluded was hilarious, but the best moment was the Deus ex machina that saved the bird in a hilarious, unfair manner.

Scrambled Aches takes its sweet time to get going, but when it does, it’s a blast to watch. It’s well animated and superbly executed in its second half.

My Rating – 4
