Raw! Raw! Rooster! Review

Raw! Raw! Rooster! is a 1956 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It has its issues, but the new character is great.

This is one of those shorts that entirely depend upon a character, and this time around it’s not Foghorn actually, but his college mate called Rhode Island Red (a real chicken type by the way). This guy is even more of a jokester than Leghorn and he is very cool, fun and conniving. The voice acting on him is excellent and the dynamic between the two is top-notch.

Many of the film’s gags worked quite well, the highlights being the fun opening and the memorable football scene. However, some of the bomb sequences were too typical, and the ending was a disappointment as it wasn’t nearly as hilarious nor as memorable as it should have been, plus the choice to give the win to Foghorn did not go in line with the rest of the short.

Raw! Raw! Rooster! has its weaker scenes, but the Red character is hilarious and the dynamic between the two is stellar.

My Rating – 3.9
