Radio Riot Review

Radio Riot Review

Radio Riot is a 1930 animated short film from the Talkartoons series.

The phenomenon of radio is hot, and everyone is listening, including an overambitious goldfish, a lazy spider and three terrified mouse-children. This Talkartoons short tried too heavily to copy Disney’s Silly Symphonies style through dancing sequences. The result is a film that lost that Fleischer touch unfortunately.

I did find the animation to be quite inventive at times and the dance movements and goofy humor worked to a degree. The spider gags were particularly memorable. The movie has a lot of kinetic energy and chaotic pacing, but a slim plot prevented it from reaching a more memorable status.

Radio Riot has a weak plot and an overreliance on music, but the visuals and some gags were solid.

My Rating – 3.4
