Porky and Daffy in the William Tell Overture Review

Porky and Daffy in the William Tell Overture is a 1991 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series.

Porky and Daffy try their hand at blowing trumpet fanfares in order to win audience approval. This is a very messy movie and I don’t know why they even made it in the first place. It signaled obvious laziness from these filmmakers as the runtime of just two minutes was way too short, leading to a chaotic movie that is too fleeting to satisfy.

Porky and Daffy are true to their characters and their dynamic worked here. The animation was also solid and some moments were quite amusing. However, the majority of the movie runs as this overly frenetic and bombastic take on music-centered shorts of yesteryear that were much better and much more effective. Here, the animation and the score were never as in sync as they were before and the gags were mostly far from memorable.

Porky and Daffy in the William Tell Overture has solid Porky and Daffy, but the humor is weak and the runtime of two minutes led to a frenetic, messy flick.

My Rating – 3.2
