Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie Movie Review

Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie is a 2005 animated direct-to-video film from Disneytoon Studios. It’s one of the weakest Winnie the Pooh offerings.

Roo and his new friend Lumpy set out to search for the Gobloon, a creature that has the ability to grant wishes. Unfortunately, if the Gobloon catches them first, Roo and Lumpy will be turned into jaggerdy lanterns. Needless to say, this plot is very childish. The whole movie is even more childish than you would expect from this property, which says a lot.

Thus, it has very little appeal for anyone outside very little children. The story is uneventful, nothing really of substance happens here and the characters are also only limited in their number. Yes, we get to see Tigger and Pooh and the rest of the gang, but not to the degree that I would have liked.

Instead, this movie is all about Roo and Lumpy. I liked the two and they are sweet together, but still the movie becomes dull quickly. Lumpy is a fine new introduction, but I personally did not like seeing the Heffalumps be present here in one true character. That wasn’t a good choice to me.

The voice acting is good and the film’s animation is actually quite strong with the atmosphere and the overall imagery being very memorable. However, the soundtrack is bad as all songs here are plain dull and forgettable. The movie is okay overall, but it should have been much better and much more eventful.

Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie is overly childish. It is sweet, it develops its characters well and it looks good, but it is uneventful, very slow and uninvolving, and at the end of the day it is overly focused on just two characters with others being unfortunately absent way too often than not.

My Rating – 3
