Modern Inventions ReviewModern Inventions Review

Modern Inventions is a 1937 Mickey Mouse cartoon. It is a hilarious flick.

This is the final film in the Mickey Mouse series to star Donald as later on he would finally get his very own series. Although even more could have been done with this premise and the first act is weaker, Modern Inventions is still excellent and even better than ‘Don Donald’. So the duck is in the inventions museum where he encounters various robotic helpings to great anger.

The highlights are the baby simulation sequence which is absolutely terrific and so funny and of course the barber scene is hilarious. I loved that running gag with the hat which culminated in an amusing ending. This cartoon is entertaining and funny throughout featuring absolutely hilarious Donald who made me smile quite a lot. His initial intrigued expressions and eventual anger are beautifully realized thanks to terrific character animation. The inventions also look great.

Modern Inventions features a terrific premise well mined for laughs. It’s a well animated and very funny short featuring hilarious Donald Duck at the height of his powers.
