Mickey's Grand Opera ReviewMickey’s Grand Opera Review

Mickey’s Grand Opera is a 1936 Mickey Mouse cartoon. It is a solid entry.

Mickey conducts the orchestra for an opera, but expectedly Pluto creates chaos and Donald and Clara Cluck don’t sing properly, but just quack incomprehensibly. Yes, this is a standard 30s Disney cartoon featuring an opera and a failed attempt to conduct it. It’s overly familiar and although very well executed, it’s still nothing new in terms of the plot itself.

I also found Pluto’s role here rather annoying and uninteresting. Mickey is also underwhelming. However, Clara Cluck and Donald Duck are so funny here and they easily steal the show from the rest in what are very well utilized character sequences. The score is obviously very good and the animation continues to be terrific and highly polished.

Mickey’s Grand Opera has a familiar plot, but solid utilization of its duck characters and excellent animation.

My Rating – 3.5
