Lighthouse Mouse Review

Lighthouse Mouse Review

Lighthouse Mouse is a 1955 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a solid short.

A sleep deprived mouse and Hippety Hopper battle Sylvester to keep the beacon light of a lighthouse off. I loved the premise behind this short and the lighthouse as a setting is so well realized and quite interesting. The movie is atmospheric and very fun in Sylvester’s reactions and his signature talk.

However, the others are quite forgettable with Hopper also being clichéd in his role here. The action overall is not great. Some of it worked, but for the most part the action and gags lacked originality, which was a problem as this high-concept setting should have led to more authentic set pieces.

Lighthouse Mouse has a superb setting, but the action and gags left a lot to be desired.

My Rating – 3.5
