Invasion of the Bunny Snatchers Review

Invasion of the Bunny Snatchers is a 1992 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series.

Daffy Duck, Yosemite Sam and Elmer Fudd have all been captured, and badly animated pod-people versions have taken their places. Bugs needs to stop them and bring everything back to normal in this very interesting horror-centric cartoon. This is one of the longest Looney Tunes shorts, clocking in at over eleven minutes, which definitely made it feel too long, but the story is so good that ultimately the movie worked.

It’s a parody of ‘Invasion of the Body Snatchers’ with the added element of parodying limited animation. The latter element was particularly funny as the designs of those pale imitation characters were very amusing. The highlight of the short is Bugs himself, who got to be not just a master manipulator, but also a great detective of sorts. The animation is splendid and the score is fittingly eerie. For a horror cartoon, those elements needed to have been even more present, but at least every single character was well utilized here.

Invasion of the Bunny Snatchers has splendid animation and an interesting mystery horror story with Bugs Bunny being terrific throughout.

My Rating – 4
