(Blooper) Bunny Review

(Blooper) Bunny is a 1997 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series.

This movie offers a behind-the-scenes look at the making of “The Bugs Bunny 51st-and-a-Half Anniversary Spectacular”, complete with shaky camera and a variety of outtakes from stars Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam. This short was actually produced in 1991, but it was shelved and only released six years later. It’s one of those experiments that didn’t quite work, but I respect the ambition behind it.

The movie is never as funny as it clearly tried and ought to be. There are some hilarious moments to be found with Daffy himself. The line where he talks about his people versus Bugs’ people was so funny. But Bugs himself did not get as many funny lines while Elmer and Sam were mostly too sidelined, though Sam did get some humorous moments in there. The animation trying to emulate an unprofessional filming camera did lead to an undeniably interesting look to this film, but it felt too long and poorly structured overall.

(Blooper) Bunny is choppily edited and structured, but the animation is interesting and there are some humorous moments to be found in it.

My Rating – 3.5
