I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Cat Review

I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Cat Review

I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Cat is a 2011 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series.

Inside Granny’s apartment, while Granny is asleep, Tweety sings about his life at home and about Sylvester, who always wants to eat him. This movie was directed by Matthew O’Callaghan, who also penned the Road Runner shorts released during this period. Most of the things I’ve said about those shorts applies here as well – he managed to recreate to a degree the feel of those classic cartoons while never imbuing his film with enough memorable material to stand on its own.

The things that worked here are the stellar animation and an interesting choice to tell the story through a song. That was something unique and the song was quite fun. What did not work was the humor itself as the gags were subpar and the scenarios were far from memorable. Tweety is quite brutal to Sylvester in this movie, which fits the character actually, but I wished to have seen a better use of the apartment and stronger action set pieces.

I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Cat is a solid Tweety and Sylvester short. It looks and sounds good, but it never had any memorable set pieces in it.

My Rating – 4
