Hook, Line and Stinker Review

Hook, Line and Stinker Review

Hook, Line and Stinker is a 1958 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is such a fun entry.

This is another Wile E. Coyote/Road Runner short and it’s among the better ones. The mid section left a lot to be desired, though. Most of those gags were only fine without reaching greatness. But the rest of the cartoon is excellent, especially the final piece.

The beginning in the washtub is great. It was a different kind of gag for the series and it worked as it was so well executed. The highlight is the ending. That whole contraption that the coyote made was just hilarious. I always find the contraptions to be the highlights of the entire series and the more complicated they are, the better. This is among the most complex to the ridiculous degree. The mouse in particular was so funny.

Hook, Line and Stinker is a pretty good animated short with a weaker mid part, but a fantastic ending with a hilarious contraption.

My Rating – 4
