Goldimouse and the Three Cats Review

Goldimouse and the Three Cats is a 1960 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very entertaining cartoon.

This is an obvious parody of Goldilocks and the Three Bears and when it comes to Looney Tunes parodies it is frankly not among their best ones. The second half lacked momentum and it needed more memorable gags. The only gag that worked was the final one – seeing for the first time ever Sylvester actually rebel against his bratty son was glorious.

The first half is a fantastic build-up. The mouse character is amusing and the family is wonderfully incorporated into the storyline. The porridge gag was repeated throughout, but with slight variations, thus it worked spectacularly. The animation was also great and the little detail with the marking “spoiled brat” beside the bed of the kid was brilliant.

Goldimouse and the Three Cats could have been even better, but for the most part this is a very funny parody short that finally addressed how spoiled Sylvester Jr. really is.

My Rating – 4
