Gold Rush Daze ReviewGold Rush Daze Review

Gold Rush Daze is a 1939 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a somewhat weaker short.

The title explains it all and the film happens during the middle 19th century with characters going after gold. I liked the ending and a couple of scenes here and there plus the animation is fine, but the film is still quite dull, uninvolving and rather familiar in its story and characters.

This is basically a rehash of ‘Gold Diggers of ’49’ and it goes without saying that it is much weaker than that pretty strong film which is one of the best of its time. It is never comparable at all as the energy and humor are just not there and even the action and characterization are lacking.

Gold Rush Daze definitely has its moments, but is mostly a dull, rehashed Merry Melody with not enough strong gags and action in it.

My Rating – 3.3
