Genie with the Light Pink Fur ReviewGenie with the Light Pink Fur Review

Genie with the Light Pink Fur is a 1966 animated short film from the Pink Panther series.

The Pink Panther series gets its own Aladdin treatment with the introduction of the lamp and the Genie, but the lamp doesn’t work so most of the time we just follow the feline as he attempts to start it. The highlights are seeing Pink get so frustrated and that ending which is quite amusing.

But overall, the short isn’t all that great. It’s just another lamp story, but it lacks the greatness of some of the earlier adaptations in famous cartoons of the Golden Age. The animation is great, but the film felt anti-climactic as it never amounted to much besides those admittedly solid gags. The cinematography and score are good and the film has its moments, but it’s overall just solid.

Genie with the Light Pink Fur has its moments and Pink is great, but overall the story is thin and not particularly memorable.

My Rating – 3.5
