Dr. Jerkyl’s Hide ReviewDr. Jerkyl’s Hide Review

Dr. Jerkyl’s Hide is a 1954 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a fine short.

Sylvester is trying to escape a pair of dogs (Spike the Bulldog and Chester the Terrier). He accidentally ingests Dr. Jekyll’s formula causing him to become a monster cat that terrorizes Spike the Bulldog and causes Chester to call Alfie a coward. It instantly reminded me of the game ‘Sylvester and Tweety in Cagey Capers’. That’s because it features a monster, but it’s a monster cat here.

I liked those scenes quite a bit and the entire movie is solid and very enjoyable. However, Tweety is not present here and you can feel his absence for sure as the humor is thus significantly weaker. The action is okay, but I needed more humorous moments and better dialogue.

Dr. Jerkyl’s Hide is solid in action scenes and it features a fine premise, but the humor is quite lacking unfortunately.

My Rating – 3.5
