Donald’s Golf Game Review

Donald’s Golf Game Review

Donald’s Golf Game is a 1938 animated short film from the Donald Duck series. It is a pretty strong flick.

Donald goes to play golf with his nephews accompanying him as caddies. This is one of those movies that heavily rely on its setting for extensive gags. I am not a fan of golf, so this movie did not appeal to me as much as some other Donald Duck shorts did. There is one grasshopper gag that was quite amusing, but most of the other gags were far from great.

The animation is gorgeous as usual. These first dozens of Donald shorts were released around the time when ‘Snow White’ was released and you can see that same level of painterly artistry present in these flicks as well. The nephews are just as annoying as they were before and Donald doesn’t get any respite at the end, but watching his angry outbursts is always amusing.

Donald’s Golf Game is very well animated and featuring a couple of fun scenes, but most of the golf-centered gags were far from great.

My Rating – 3.7
