Dog Gone People Review

Dog Gone People is a 1960 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is an amusing, but slight entry.

In this shot, Elmer Fudd has to take care of his boss’s dog while he is away. The problem is – the dog acts like human and wants to be treated as such. This familiar premise was admittedly very well executed, even if there isn’t any truly funny scene here, but most of it was solidly crafted and reasonably diverting.

The animation is forgettable and certainly not among Warner Bros. better efforts, but the dog is great and quite memorable. Elmer having trouble with some kind of animal always produces great results as the basic premise and here, though predictable, the ending was entertaining and Elmer was very endearing throughout.

Dog Gone People is a solid Merry Melodies short that features a familiar premise, but solid execution across the board.

My Rating – 3.7
