Chimp and Zee is a 1968 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a weak cartoon.
A hunter goes into the jungle to capture a rare blue-tailed simian. That’s when he sees Chimp, who happens to be the blue-tailed creature he’s hunting for. This strange cartoon features passable animation and a solid hunter character. The ape that he hunts is also memorably designed.
But the movie is so thinly plotted that it ended up being very forgettable. By this point Looney Tunes have lost all of their signature elements including the crazy that the title would suggest. They had become something else, something more conformist and standard. It’s a shame to see this series turn into that.
Chimp and Zee has solid characters, but its thin, uninteresting and standard plot left a lot to be desired, leading to another forgettable late 60s entry in this series.
