Catty Cornered ReviewCatty Cornered Review

Catty Cornered is a 1953 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a very good flick.

Tweety is kidnapped by two criminals while Sylvester attempts to catch him to eat him. This is a different cartoon for the series as it introduces these two criminals who, though not great, are solidly realized and quite amusing. The premise is highly original and the execution is mostly excellent. I would have liked to have seen more from those two, but Sylvester is terrific here and Tweety is his usual funny and childish self.

The best scenes include the fun ending, the hiding in mouth sequence and every scene with Sylvester here is a winner. The animation is excellent, the setting is beautifully utilized into the action and the said action is mostly superb. This is the type of original, fresh entry that this series needs to feature more often.

Catty Cornered features a terrific, fresh premise that is well utilized for laughs and great scenarios.
