Buzzy Boop at the Concert Review

Buzzy Boop at the Concert is a 1938 animated short film from the Betty Boop series. It is a solid cartoon.

Betty and Buzzy are at the concert. Buzzy is bored, but she then goes on the stage and a livelier dance number begins. This was the second and final cartoon starring Buzzy, who is a feisty, tomboyish cousin of Betty’s. I prefer this short over the first one, though both are only serviceable.

The plot is very slight here and Betty is disposable, but Buzzy stole the movie with her signature energetic behavior and fun dance moves. She was a lot of fun here and I really liked her shared scene with a fat opera singer toward the end. The first half, though, is overlong and dull in comparison. The animation and score are pretty good. This had been a lost movie until recently when it was discovered and posted online.

Buzzy Boop at the Concert does have a slight plot and a weak first half, but the second half was a lot of fun. Buzzy Boop was quite fun in her second and last movie.

My Rating – 3.5
