Bugsy and Mugsy Review

Bugsy and Mugsy Review

Bugsy and Mugsy is a 1957 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a solid, but flawed short.

Bugs discovers that two robbers are hiding out on the floor above him, and plays them off against each other. There are some great gags done here, especially the first one with the telephone was quite funny. Whenever Bugs gets to use his gangster voice, you are bound to have a laugh. The voice acting is clearly the highlight of this picture.

The action and humor are solid and the gangster characters are very well utilized. However, my main issue is that the short quickly becomes repetitive and the ending was very disappointing because the two never got to see the rabbit at all. It was a missed opportunity to use Bugs like this as he is best when talking to his opponents in my opinion.

Bugsy and Mugsy is solid, fun and at times funny, but it’s still repetitive and the ending was quite disappointing.

My Rating – 3.8
