Cosmic Scrat-tastropheCosmic Scrat-tastrophe Review

Cosmic Scrat-tastrophe is a 2015 animated short film from Blue Sky Studios that was played in theatres in front of ‘The Peanuts Movie’.

It follows Scrat the squirrel who this time is sent to space accidentally and in the end his cosmic voyage may have some consequences back on Earth. It is an okay diversion of a film. Because it focuses on Scrat who was always one of the best Ice Age characters, it is entertaining and it does have its moments. However, it isn’t as funny as it should have been and this is one of the least interesting adventures for the character.

But the animation is really good, especially during the cosmic scenes. However, those space scenes are ludicrous and not that funny, apart from one particularly memorable billiards moment. It is mostly forgettable and it is just a giant commercial for their next entry in the franchise ‘Ice Age: Collision Course’. But it does have its moments and the ending in particular is really good and funny and a nice use of the characters on Earth.

Cosmic Scrat-tastrophe does have some very funny moments and the animation is nice, but the plot is ridiculous and forgettable and the whole short is just one big Ice Age commercial.

My Rating – 3
