Wild and Woolly Hare Review

Wild and Woolly Hare is a 1959 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very good short.

In this short, Bugs Bunny saves a town from Yosemite Sam who is here portrayed as dangerous and very confident. What I liked about this story is that it focused extensively on the western genre, which hadn’t been the case in the years prior, but Sam should first and foremost be a character rooted in western folklore, so this choice was great.

While the cartoon is hardly hilarious and Bugs has been much funnier many times before, most of the action was very well executed nonetheless. The shootouts were excellent and the flick’s animation is gorgeous and quite appealing for the eyes. The setting was very well utilized for the action scenes and the final stretch with the train was the cleverest part.

Wild and Woolly Hare is a western short that features an excellent Yosemite Sam, strong animation and memorable shootouts.

My Rating – 4
