Tree Cornered Tweety Review

Tree Cornered Tweety Review

Tree Cornered Tweety is a 1956 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a pretty fun short.

Dragnet was an influence on this short once again as apparently Warner Bros. was really into parodying this famous television show from the early fifties. It’s solidly utilized with Tweety being a solid protagonist with his serious manner of speaking contrasting so well with the usual childish tone of his, resulting in some hilarious sentences. He’s very strong here while Sylvester is less memorable himself.

This is by far the most Road Runner-like entry in the Sylvester and Tweety series as it basically consists of a string of failed attempts of the cat to catch the bird with a lot of contraptions and machinery being involved. The magnet part was my favorite as it was quite amusing while the automat segment was the best and craziest one. The animation is pretty good here as is the score, but overall most of the segments were just solid.

Tree Cornered Tweety has a repetitive nature to it, but the liens spoken by Tweety steal the show as he is so funny here.

My Rating – 3.9
