The Film Fan ReviewThe Film Fan Review

The Film Fan is a 1939 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a tired short.

Here Porky comes to see the movies along with many other kids and the end result is your typical cinema short which we’ve seen countless times before in Looney Tunes or Merry Melodies. I found the short overlong, quite dull and most of its segments were either uninspired or painfully unfunny. It doesn’t add anything new to this familiar concept.

There are two exceptions however and one is that dog sequence. The dog sees the trees in a painting and starts yelling. That was very funny and superbly executed in a very comedic manner. And of course another standout moment is the ending itself where the mom sent a message for her son to come home from the theater and not only Porky but all of the kids get up and leave in a hurry. That was very amusing.

The Film Fan has two good, entertaining scenes, but other than those two, it’s a pretty tired, uninspired entry in the series.

My Rating – 3.4
