Sport Chumpions Review

Sport Chumpions is a 1941 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a pretty weak short.

This is just another sports cartoon which means that it’s simply not for me. I will admit that it has one positive aspect in it and that is the animation which is admittedly very strong and admirable. The character design is particularly strong. But the score is weak and the gags are non-existent.

It is a baseball film and I really do not care for or even understand that sport so obviously I was bored out of my mind watching this one. Nothing here is interesting or funny and the short feels like it’s ten minutes long when in reality it is only around 6 minutes in length.

Sport Chumpions is a well animated, but boring, tired baseball cartoon which is easily the worst Merry Melodies short in quite a while.
