Shop Look & Listen Review

Shop Look & Listen is a 1940 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is another weak short.

Yes, this one is pretty much similar to its predecessor ‘Little Blabbermouse’. Again we get an annoying mouse character who just talks and talks and never shuts up. But he is never really funny and is more annoying than endearing. The entire cartoon hinges on that ending where he is shut up by the machines, the rest of it just leads to that moment.

I did like the animation, particularly of the machines as their movements are quite polished. But the movie never made use of them properly and the overall story here is almost non-existent with no point to it whatsoever. The characters are all entirely forgettable too. This is the last short with this character and he obviously did not deserve more.

Shop Look & Listen has good animation, but an annoying central character and a pointless plot.
