Ranking Schitt’s Creek Seasons

Schitt’s Creek has 80 episodes and six seasons. Throughout its run, the show changed significantly, especially in its characters as they progressed and became better people. Ranking the seasons, thus, was rather difficult as the first half of the show is so different from the second one. Ultimately, I love all seasons, but this is just their ranking when it comes to best moments, most iconic scenes and plot/character development.

6. Season 2

The second season gets the last spot because it came in between two very major tones of the show. Whereas the first season was very comedic and unlikable in its characters, and everything from third season onward featured many changes for its characters, this one doesn’t introduce that many changes and the first half of it can be forgettable. However, this is still Schitt’s Creek we’re talking about and there are some episodes here that are downright amazing with Moira’s Nudes being an instant classic with a perfect showcase for Catherine O’Hara’s talents.

Schitt's Creek Season 2 Review

Best Moment – The closing of the show in the finale Happy Anniversary is just perfect. This episode is my favorite of the entire series, and that is in no small part thanks to that amazing final scene that was just heartwarming. Seeing the family finally unite together was very rewarding.

5. Season 3

The third season finally introduced Patrick to us, and that moment where the two at last kissed in the car was so tender and so moving. It was also very important finally witnessing David’s growth as a person as for the first time ever he decided to open up his own business. Alexis’ trip to school was also a lot of fun to follow.

Schitt's Creek Season 3 Review

Best Moment – The final episode is again perfection as the show does finales so well. The highlight for me was witnessing Moira at Alexis’s graduation. That was a wonderful moment that solidified their bond after a tumultuous season for the two.

4. Season 1

I adored the first season of Schitt’s Creek. I actually loved it so much that I feared the rest of the show would not be as great. And yes, the show lost some of its edge later down the line as it became more dramatic, but this was where it was at its most unlikable and its funniest. It was hilarious seeing the family deal with their new surroundings and loss of money. Also, Stevie was simply badass here in her deadpan delivery.

Schitt's Creek Season 1 Review

Best MomentDavid and Stevie beginning a sexual relationship was very intriguing, and him explaining to her his pansexuality and what that entails exactly was groundbreaking for television as it was rarely portrayed before and very uncommonly this subtly and casually.

3. Season 6

There is a lot to unpack here. As the final season of the show, it was just heartbreaking having to say goodbye. This season was concerned with the big wedding way too much, but at least it was beautiful when it finally happened. This season was all about saying goodbye as the family got separated and it was both believable and very tough to sit through.

Schitt's Creek Season 6 Review

Best Moment – The final scene with the callback to the previous moment many seasons prior to this one. That was a beautiful way to end the entire show and an iconic moment for sure. As for the comedic scenes, the highlight is Moira’s red carpet premiere of her ridiculous Crows movie that suitably ended awry.

2. Season 4

Alexis pursued Ted through this entire season in a very comedic, fun fashion. Moira got a lot to do as well with the highlight being her fake death being spread online. Johnny and Stevie started their business relationship here and it was very well established. And of course David began a relationship with Patrick in earnest here, and all of their scenes are wonderful.

Schitt's Creek Season 4 Review

Best Moment – Most people would state that the moment from Open Mic where Patrick sang to David is the highlight of this season and even the entire show. Though I loved it of course, I personally would have to go with its follow-up. It was a perfect choice to again make use of Tina Turner’s The Best by having David full-on lip-sync to Patrick. The scene is both fun and immensely romantic.

1. Season 5

The best season has to be the fifth one as it was the culmination of so many storylines just before the sixth season, which was basically a goodbye show. Johnny had a lot of great shenanigans episodes with the roast one being the standout, Moira herself was absolutely hilarious with her Bosnian filmmaking adventure, Alexis and Ted started their relationship for real and Stevie got her heart broken. David and Patrick getting engaged was the highlight for sure.

Schitt's Creek Season 5 Review

Best Moment – The comedic one has to be the awkward kissing from Housewarming, but the dramatic highlights are Patrick’s coming out, which was so carefully handled, and of course that proposal in The Hike, which was downright cinematic, unexpected and unforgettable in its sweeping romanticism.
