Out and Out Rout Review

Out and Out Rout is a 1966 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is another very weak short.

Wile E. Coyote chases the Road Runner using a skateboard, a hunting falcon, and two doves tied to hisĀ feet. This is yet another Road Runner short that felt uninspired and rushed in production. The animation, sound and score are once again solid. The ending is also okay and so is the beginning.

But most of the gags were totally mediocre this time around. The hunting falcon gag was a missed opportunity while the two doves segment was very dumb and too illogical even for this series. There was an element of flying here that could have been interesting, but it was hardly utilized properly, resulting in a weak mish-mash of ideas.

Out and Out Rout looks and sounds good, but it failed to make proper use of its flying gags as most ended up being mediocre.

My Rating – 3
