Operation: Rabbit ReviewOperation: Rabbit Review

Operation: Rabbit is a 1952 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is an interesting movie.

This is the first ever cartoon starring the combination of Bugs Bunny and Wile E. Coyote, and it is also the first to see the coyote actually speak. So yes, this is an important film in many ways. While it is important, it doesn’t mean it is amazing because it really isn’t. It got me some time getting used to him speaking, and simply the entire cartoon isn’t truly hilarious.

But it is quite amusing throughout, and in particular the highlights are Wile’s very self-confident statements on his apparently huge intelligence. Bugs makes a fool out of him in a good fashion, and I actually really liked this pairing. They are excellent together, and the animation and action scenarios are stellar. I just wish that the humor was a bit stronger.

Operation: Rabbit is an amusing, very important movie that establishes the Bugs/Wile dynamic, and setting it up for better movies in the future.

My Rating – 4.1
