Mythic Quest: Everlight is a special for the titular show that was released in 2021. It is another terrific special that is very well scripted throughout.

The team returns to the office for their annual Everlight party. Poppy and Ian try to rig a LARP tournament in favor of Dana, but Brad ends up winning the tournament instead and with his win, he forces Poppy and Ian to cancel future Everlight parties. Poppy and Ian then challenge Brad and end up defeating him, which means Everlight parties are able to continue in the future.

LARP stands for live-action role-playing, which is the geekiest thing ever and I am so glad that the show made fun it while also honoring it in a way. While this special is definitely not as strong as the first one, it’s still a lot of fun. It lacked the emotion and sophistication of the previous special, but it was very funny and well made regardless.

Here, the budget was obviously larger and all those costumes and swords looked great. The final animated sequence with full VFX was cool and hilarious. The character highlights here are definitely Brad and Jo. Jo’s one line while fighting cracked me up and how she was instantly in this crazed, animalistic mode was true to the character and so funny.

Brad wanting to cancel it and making for a great villain was also highly amusing. Ian and Poppy manipulating everything as the king and queen made for some great banter while David being beaten up by Jo was absolutely hilarious. C.W. being the referee was obviously the best choice for the role.

Overall, Everlight is a pretty strong special for Mythic Quest. It’s not as great as the first one, but it is still very funny, well made and very well acted throughout. The LARP tournament was a great idea that was mined for laughs beautifully while the character highlights were obviously Jo and Brad.

My Rating – 4
