Mississippi Hare ReviewMississippi Hare Review

Mississippi Hare is a 1949 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a fun short.

This western flick is very problematic in its first half which is not as eventful nor nearly as memorable as the second half was. I personally wasn’t all that interested in the beginning, but eventually I came around to it as the second half is so damn strong.

I loved the drag sequences. Bugs Bunny has always been at his funniest when doing drag, and here he was very entertaining while flirting, and that ending even hinted that he was enjoying this romantic fling which was hilarious. Colonel Shuffle is also a solid new addition to the Looney Tunes roster of characters and just very amusing, but too reminiscent to Yosemite Sam.

Mississippi Hare has a problematic beginning, but later on it became hugely entertaining with the drag scenes being a lot of fun.

My Rating – 3.9
