Lights Fantastic Review

Lights Fantastic is a 1942 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a very interesting flick.

I’ve seen similar films to this one, especially in the thirties when Warner Bros. produced many music-oriented shorts with no story. But this one is still different from those entries and an improvement because it is much more stylized and artistic in its approach, especially in its very strong animation.

It has no story whatsoever, it is dull and slow paced and of course some segments just don’t work as well as others. However, I still liked the film for offering a glimpse into its time period, most especially through some hit songs and wonderful musical pieces.

Lights Fantastic definitely has no plot and is slow in pace, but it’s artistic in its animation and particularly memorable in great score.
