I Taw a Putty Tat ReviewI Taw a Putty Tat Review

I Taw a Putty Tat is a 1948 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a tremendous short.

In this cartoon Tweety literally physically tortures Sylvester through a bunch of very amusing, inventive sequences. The beginning of the film isn’t as strong or as memorable, but everything afterwards was golden with that ending being particularly dark and brutal as the bird literally had the dog kill Sylvester.

Yes, this film includes a lot of torture and even eventual death and that set it apart beautifully from others in the series as it’s by far the most brutal Merry Melody in quite a while, maybe even the most brutal up to this point. I liked the animation and the sound effects, but the highlight here is Tweety who pronounces his sentences in a hilarious baby talk manner while he’s conniving and very competent throughout. He truly is a classic cartoon character for the ages.

I Taw a Putty Tat is a hilarious cartoon in its extensively brutal sequences and Tweety absolutely stole the show here from Sylvester.

My Rating – 4.4
