Hairied and Hurried Review

Hairied and Hurried Review

Hairied and Hurried is a 1965 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is a pretty weak short.

Wile E. Coyote chases the Road Runner and hopes, without success, to catch his prey using such schemes as a snow-making machine. My main issue with this short is its lack of truly memorable gags. It produced mild chuckles in me, but never real laughs. The snow-making contraption was funny in concept, but it made no sense and wasn’t particularly funny in execution.

The animation is pretty polished and colorful here, and Wile E. Coyote was very amusing in his facial expressions, especially when making up plans. The eyebrows that he raises while doing this always make me smile. But the Road Runner is forgettable here and the end sequence was predictable in its entirety. The movie lacked energy in its execution and it felt duller and slower than usual for the series.

Hairied and Hurried has some solid moments and strong animation, but it is low in energy and mostly unfunny in execution.

My Rating – 3.4
