Guided Muscle Review

Guided Muscle Review

Guided Muscle is a 1955 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a terrific short.

This is one of the best Road Runner/Wile E. Coyote films as most of the gags here worked effortlessly. There are some that didn’t work quite as well, mostly those with the arrows and the slingshot, but the second half of the cartoon is where the movie truly shines. The grease sequence sees Wile at his most desperate and futile that I couldn’t help but feel for the guy.

The Latin naming in the first scene cracked me up as they continue to find new hilarious names for this well-established gag. The feathering gag was also very funny, especially in the end moment with the Road Runner’s sign being hilarious and so unexpected. The final scene is also surprising in the bird’s sudden appearance with the ending itself being perfect.

Guided Muscle is gorgeously animated and perfectly established in most of the gags, leading up to one of the best entries in this series.

My Rating – 4.3
