Crowing Pains ReviewCrowing Pains Review

Crowing Pains is a 1947 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a hilarious cartoon.

This short features not only Henery Hawk and Foghorn Leghorn, but also Sylvester for some reason. At first, that seemed an odd choice to me. But eventually I warmed up to the idea quite a bit as the cat fitted really well with this group comedy-wise. Barnyard Dawg needed more screen time though.

The first half is inferior to the much better and much funnier second half which features that stupendous ending where Foghorn tricked Sylvester with his ventriloquism so the little bird mistook Sylvester for crowing. That was a genius idea that worked and that whole scene is simply golden. I loved Henery here and his usual tough talk and Foghorn is so clever, but Sylvester is also quite memorable and a lot of fun.

Crowing Pains is weaker in its first half, but the second one is so good with the ending being a hilarious sequence.

My Rating – 4
