Confederate Honey ReviewConfederate Honey Review

Confederate Honey is a 1940 animated short film from the Merry Melodies series. It is an okay entry.

Elmer Fudd stars in this one. It is actually his first starring role without Bugs Bunny alongside him. He is excellent – very amusing and likable. Elmer proved he had great potential for starring roles here. The girl who is basically Scarlett O’Hara is also memorable and appealing. The animation is terrific and the attention to detail is quite strong.

However, the film doesn’t really parody Gone with the Wind’ all too well. Certainly visually speaking and in terms of character design, the film succeeds in recreating the time period and setting of the film, but still most of the characters and action are forgettable and there are no quality gags to be found here whatsoever.

Confederate Honey is appealing in animation and especially character design, but subpar in terms of action and gags.

My Rating – 3.4
