BURN-E Review

BURN-E Review

BURN-E is a 2008 animated short film. It is a Pixar short that was based on ‘WALL-E’.

BURN-E is a dedicated hard working robot who finds himself locked out of his ship. BURN-E quickly learns that completing a simple task can often be a very difficult endeavor. While ‘WALL-E’ is one of Pixar’s greatest achievements, this short companion piece is anything but that. It doesn’t depict the protagonist or his love interest, but the titular side character who was only in the movie for one scene. This was not a great choice.

The animation is excellent and just as polished as expected from Pixar. There is also a terrific score, sound and effects employed here and the protagonist is cute and memorable. But the movie is very forgettable, slight in plot and nowhere near as funny or as enchanting as you’d come to expect from this property.

BURN-E is technically polished, but this short left a lot to be desired in terms of storytelling, characterization and themes.

My Rating – 3.4
