Broom-Stick Bunny Review

Broom-Stick Bunny is a 1956 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a fun short.

A trick-or-treating Bugs upsets Witch Hazel’s claim of being the ugliest witch. This is a very good story that twists the usual prettiest of them all Snow White narrative into the ugliest of them all quest. The first half of this movie is my favorite as seeing Hazel’s entire operation was so much fun. Her concocting the potion was memorable and the magic mirror was striking.

The movie’s treatment of Bugs isn’t the greatest as he’s nowhere near as funny as he usually is, and the witch is actually the highlight here surprisingly enough. Still, their dynamic was very strong and some lines of dialogue are hilarious. The ending was overly sexual, but unexpected, that’s for sure. The animation is gorgeous and some of the visuals are quite artistic.

Broom-Stick Bunny is more memorable in Witch Hazel than in Bugs Bunny moments, but she is awesome and the story is so much fun.

My Rating – 4.2
