Behind the Meat-Ball ReviewBehind the Meat-Ball Review

Behind the Meat-Ball is a 1945 animated short film from the Looney Tunes series. It is a very standard entry.

It follows a dog in quest to save his meat while the other larger dog attacks him. This is a rather familiar premise for a cartoon and of course none of it is original in any way. I am tired of dogs being portrayed as very stupid in cartoons and although that can be cute and here it is cute too, it’s still too much and too easy to show them like that. I would like something different for once please.

The animation and score are also nothing to write home about along with its script. That being said, some of the scenarios here worked solidly and I really liked the protagonist who was so endearing and there the movie got some major points in terms of likability. But the humor is missing here.

Behind the Meat-Ball has its moments and the dog protagonist is endearing, but the humor, plot and technicalities are mostly subpar here.

My Rating – 3.4
