Will & Grace Season 7 Review

The seventh season of Will & Grace is one of the best, funniest seasons of the entire show as this was easily the pinnacle period of the series.

FYI: I Hurt, Too is a transitional and thus not the funniest episode which sees Jack splitting up with Jennifer Lopez and Grace finally, thankfully leaving Leo. Back Up, Dancer is a solid guest turn for Janet Jackson and especially Will Arnett. One Gay at a Time is amusing in Grace’s petty storyline and important for finally giving a job to Jack who is going to have a lot of funny adventures in this gay network. Company is a solid take on weird, boring neighbors.

Key Party is one of the best, most endearing episodes where Vince wants to give Will the key to his apartment, but Grace screws it up. The Newlydreads is a fine episode which showcases the unexpected strength of Karen and Grace’s friendship. Will & Grace & Vince & Nadine is a particularly strong take on women falling in love with their gay male friends through Vince’s friendship with his friend.

Saving Grace, Again is a solid two-parter with Part I definitely being better than Part II, but still both episodes offer a good showcase of Grace’s problematic relationship with Leo. Queens for a Day is a much better two-parter though. That’s because it’s a terrific family episode where we get to know Vince’s family and the highlight is Jack influencing a lesbian in the family to come out.

Christmas Break is a hilarious episode in both of its parts. Karen wanting to hang out with her stepdaughter was a great situational comedy and the same goes for Grace destroying a figurine of Will’s crazy mother and trying to blame it on others. Board Games sees Vince lose his job in a very sad, important episode.

Partners is a terrific episode where Will and Vince tragically break up in what is a terrific, moving final scene. It also balances things out with Karen having trouble to admit that she cares for Rosario while she’s in the hospital. That was funny and sweet with of course her slapping Jack being the standout.

Bully Woolley is a fantastic episode which shows us that Jack does care for Will, but in an amusing, hilarious manner where he meets his diva Patti Lupone in one fabulous extended scene. Dance Cards and Greeting Cards finds Karen’s nemesis played by Jeff Goldblum fall in love with Karen and it also introduces us to Nick who is one of the best of Grace’s boyfriends so far, but they unfortunately didn’t go anywhere with their relationship.

The Birds and the Bees sees the two on a date while also giving Jack the opportunity to flirt with a gay nerd which was quite amusing. The Fabulous Baker Boy sees Nick depart in a very abrupt manner, but I most definitely loved the baker boy scenario where Karen’s hot bisexual servant baker sleeps with both Karen and Will. Sour Balls is a fun episode about homophobes in reverse, but far from the best one here.

The Blonde Leading the Blind is hilarious! Will’s therapist is simply a lot of fun with many hilarious lines of dialogue and so clever as well. She put both him and Grace to their place perfectly. It’s a Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad World is a sweet episode where Grace bonds with her father, but it’s also hilarious in Jack’s revelation that he wears a girder.

From Queet to Eternity is the best in Jack’s funny subplot whereas Friend with Benefits’ highlight is Karen outing Beverly to the whole city in a hysterical scene. Kiss and Tell is very good despite Grace’s annoying cheating subplot. The twist at the end with Stanley being alive is interesting whereas Alec Baldwin as Will’s new boss is another fantastic guest role.

In the end, this is a terrific season for the show with many hilarious and also endearing episodes which focus on great humor and emotion.

Worst Episodes: FYI: I Hurt, Too and Company.

Best Episodes: Key Party, Partners, Bully Woolley and The Blonde Leading the Blind.

My Rating – 4.1
