The sixth season of Will & Grace is easily the best season so far thanks to a high number of classic episodes and better humor along with more confidence in its execution.

Dames at Sea is particularly funny in Jack and Will thinking that they slept together. That was a lot of fun. Last Ex to Brooklyn is a good situational comedy, spectacle episode with the dinner scene being so well done. The highlight is Karen lusting over Diane. Finally, we get to see her bisexual side a lot more.

Home Court Disadvantage has Karen admit to Grace that she finds Leo boring which was relatable to me personally as I share the same sentiment. The episode is also quite relatable in its dealing with human tendency to lie and sugarcoat things. Me and Mr. Jones features one absolutely hilarious, perfect James Earl Jones guest role.

A-Story, Bee-Story isn’t all that great, but Jack and Karen are reliably terrific. Heart Like a Wheelchair finally finds Will a boyfriend, at least for a while. Those dates were funny and the crazy Norman Bates guy was quite amusing. Nice in White Satin has another great guest turn, this time from very funny, amusing Jack Black. Swimming from Cambodia is not the greatest episode, but Jack finally getting a job is important.

Strangers with Candice is somewhat forgettable, but Candice and Karen are so funny together. Fanilow is one of the best episodes of this season thanks to a memorable setting, a well utilized scenario and a particularly strong conclusion. The Accidental Tsuris isn’t particularly funny, but Geena Davis is well used in it. A Gay/December Romance is an absolute classic with Will getting himself a sugar daddy being the funniest thing that’s happened to him so far.

Ice Cream Balls is pretty solid, but not great. Stuart, Jack’s new boyfriend, is introduced here and I really like their relationship in this season. Quite sweet. Looking for Mr. Good Enough is particularly hilarious in the scenes where the others mock Will for being so desperate and alone. As for Flip-Flip, Part II is definitely better than Part I, but both are more important in story than truly funny and entertaining.

East Side Story features a lesbian power couple to hilarious results. The show really makes fun of lesbians in such a playful manner. Courting Disaster finally introduces us to the policeman Vince who is going to be Will’s boyfriend for quite a while. I honestly love him and their relationship which I find to be one of the most purely endearing and positive portrayals of a gay male relationship in media.

No Sex ‘n the City showcases the importance of that show so well and Jack/Karen are so funny here. Fred Astaire and Ginger Chicken is a solid episode, but I realized Grace’s reasoning way too early. I Never Cheered for My Father is okay, but quite forgettable. Jack and Elliot are endearing, though. Speechless is the worst, most boring part of this season unfortunately. As for the finale, I Do, Oh, No, You Di-in’t, I definitely liked it with Karen, Beverly and Jack being the highlights plus Jennifer Lopez is a fun guest, but the whole mess with Grace and Leo bored me.

Overall, this is a pretty strong season which stumbled a bit in its later episodes and Grace is particularly weak here, but Will and Vince are a great new couple plus I liked seeing Jack get a job and of course Karen and Lyle are also great.

Worst Episodes: Swimming with Cambodia, I Never Cheered for My Father and Speechless.

Best Episodes: A Gay/December Romance, Fanilow, East Side Story and No Sex ‘n the City.

My Rating – 4
