Push-Button Kitty ReviewPush-Button Kitty Review

Push-Button Kitty is a 1952 animated short that is the 70th Tom and Jerry cartoon. It is a welcome return to form for the series.

Mammy Two Shoes brings a mechanical cat into the house and it quickly catches Jerry and throws him out of the house and Tom is forced to move out as well. Then Jerry attempts to fool the robot and enter the house. What I loved about this entry is its plot as it is so incredibly entertaining and just something new and different. It was so interesting to watch this new scenario unfold and I loved it. What I did not like about this entry is its ending which is so disappointing and just not at all a satisfying conclusion to an otherwise great film.

This is the final appearance of Mammy Two Shoes which is sad, but also great as she really went on a high note. As for that robot, it was a memorable creation. And Tom is terrific as well as Jerry who is best used here in a long time. I really loved Push-Button Kitty and although it ended weakly, this is such a fantastic return to form for the struggling series.

Push-Button Kitty doesn’t end well, but everything before that conclusion is phenomenal with a great concept and excellent execution.

My Rating – 4.2
