We Aim to PleaseWe Aim to Please Review

We Aim to Please is a 1934 Popeye the Sailor animated short film that is undoubtedly one of the finest of the year.

Popeye and Olive start a restaurant and then of course Bluto comes and refuses to pay for the meal. This is an excellent premise that is perfect for this series. I loved this short as it was so incredibly entertaining and mostly very funny. It wonderfully makes use of its premise with excellent action and humor. Some of the action could have been a bit better and the film takes its time to get there, but when it does, it’s a blast to watch.

The characterization is the finest aspect here. Olive is good, but Wimpy is so funny and it is hilarious how he always gets away with everything. But Bluto and Popeye are just awesome and their fights are fantastic this time around with the bill paying conflict being hysterical and the most memorable scene here. The humor is so good and it is great that this series is finally coming to its own as this film along with the previous one are both terrific.

We Aim to Please has a really good story, but most importantly superb character moments, some hilarious scenes and it is so entertaining and funny.

My Rating – 4.3
