Pink DaVinci Review

Pink DaVinci Review

Pink DaVinci is a 1975 animated short film from the Pink Panther series.

Leonardo da Vinci (the Little Man) plans to paint the Mona Lisa with a frown, but the Pink Panther insists on a smile, which he constantly paints on the Mona Lisa soon after da Vinci paints her frown. This entry is terrific. Certainly it has its flaws such as the unwillingness to go even further with its plot as it only focused on one scenario, but it was a great one, and simply perfect for this series.

The animation here is fantastic and the premise is great as it works on both levels: as entertainment and as an art lesson. Because Mona Lisa’s smile is so elusive and different for anyone watching it, the movie is thus a clever exploration of that. But above all else, it was so amusing seeing it change throughout and pissing the Little Man off. He is so great here and that final sequence is so memorable.

Pink DaVinci is one of the best Pink Panther shorts that features a killer premise, excellent animation and good humor.
